The English Basement Apartment - Washington, DC
The newly renovated rental apartment needed some warmth amidst the surroundings of industrial concrete and steel. We used tints of yellow and soft orange on the walls and creamy white on the ceiling, to keep the sunshine inside the basement. Using soft transition colors from the walls to the ceiling helped open up the room, giving a feeling of increased space and height. A taupe-charcoal tinted paint on the steel beams throughout the room with warm gray paint on the floors keeps the industrial edge yet is heated up with bold red accent pieces.
Soft mocha color on the walls of this small yet functional kitchen softens the look and opens up the space. The intensity of the bright white cabinets complement the overall industrial feel of the entire living space.
